Write It/Build It

Q: We are teaching the kids some ways of plotting out locations on the paper – for the writers, it is OK for them to use acronyms like (RUQ for Right Upper Quadrant)? Is it ok to use numerically bulleted directions that wouldn’t necessarily make sense to anyone outside of our group (for example we have an order of listing each object that gives it’s location on the paper using commas, parentheses, numbers and letters that we have developed – can they use that?). Or do they need to be in complete sentences? or are commas and parentheses considered symbols if they aren’t used in a complete sentence?

Answer:

– Acronyms are ok.
– Punctuation is OK if it is used as intended.
– No pictures made from symbols.
